In response to growing pressure on small business owners to master visibility, strategy, and sustainability all at once, William Moxey has officially launched The Challenge, a Central Florida–based community initiative tied to his newly released book My Hustle Went Public. Announced this month and rolling out now across participating local businesses, the project invites brick-and-mortar locations to serve as community partners ahead of a February scavenger hunt experience during which free books will be distributed to the public. Designed to drive foot traffic, reduce the burden of visibility for entrepreneurs, and prepare participants for what happens when private hustle becomes public, The Challenge leverages Moxey’s real-world experience, media relationships, and network to turn education, access, and community support into tangible opportunities for entrepreneurs who need it most.

For decades, Moxey has been building things most people never saw. He's sold art, managed artists, hosted celebrity events, and flipped real estate. Did you know he once received approval to have his own sneaker store on a college campus? Although that didn't come to fruition, it was in his garage where his frustration with life and business led him to another successful business opportunity, the NOSO wallet. From there, he has gone on to play the roles of investor, mentor, motivator, and even volunteer for others who are actively working towards their legacy.

That's why his scavenger hunt-style Challenge makes sense. The main goal is to get you thinking, talking, and engaging with small businesses in our community. Using Instagram and emails, Moxey will provide clues to different locations in the Central Florida area where participants can go pick up free copies of his book. The book blends personal narrative with lessons drawn from real-world wins and losses. It's perfect for book lovers who enjoy being surprised by the author's words long after they've put the book down. It’s for readers who appreciate indie authors and initiatives led directly by the people doing the work. And it’s especially for community-minded individuals who understand that small businesses are the backbone of our country's economy. Through cryptic riddles, participants will be encouraged to speculate in the comments, Google search, or phone a friend to answer the question that leads them to a local business. There, they'll use the magic word to unlock their free copy (while supplies last).

The experience is intentionally simple. There’s no app to download and no paywall to cross, just curiosity, movement, and participation. By design, the scavenger hunt pulls people out of passive scrolling and back into real spaces, where discovery happens through conversation and presence. Each stop becomes an introduction, not just to Moxey's book, but to the businesses that stand as obvious anchors to their community.

As February 2, 2026, approaches, the focus shifts from accepting applications from businesses that want to participate to onboarding those already accepted.

By placing books directly into community spaces and inviting people to go looking for them, Moxey is betting on something simple: that readers will show up, businesses will open their doors, and conversations will happen where they matter most. In a moment defined by noise and competition for attention, the initiative offers a more disruptive yet helpful alternative.

Those interested in following the scavenger hunt, learning more about participating businesses, and keeping up with future activations are encouraged to follow @myhustlewentpublic on Instagram or to check back weekly over at MyHustleWentPublic.com. Together, they document a growing Central Florida effort rooted in books, small businesses, and community, all a part of Moxey’s broader goal to help 1,000 entrepreneurs build sustainable foundations for 2026 and beyond.
